IV Meeting of Typography, Lisboa

On 25 and 26 November 2016 will take place the 7th Meeting of Typography, in Lisbon with the overall theme “Rhythmus”.
The 7th Meeting of Typography is a conference hosted by CIAUD – Research Centre for Architecture, Urbanism and Design, based at the Faculty of Architecture (University of Lisbon).

6th Meeting of Typography, Aveiro, Portugal.

Held in Aveiro, on 4 and 5 December 2015, the sixth edition of Typography Meeting (6ET) sponsored and organized by the Portuguese delegation of the Association typographique Internacionale (ATypI). This sixth edition featured the host of the Department of Communication and Arts of the University of Aveiro (DeCA) with the support of its main research units – digimedia and ID +.

Around the general theme “Perception”, was intended to reflect on the factors that enhance the functionality of printing, such as legibility and readability efficiency.

5th Meeting of Typography, Barcelos, Portugal.

The 5 Typography Meeting (5ET), took place in Barcelos, on 28 and 29 November 2014. Organized by the Department of Design School of Technology (EST) at the Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave (IPCA).

With the general theme of “Ubiquitous”, aimed to continue to stimulate the dissemination, reflection and discussion of research and typographic development at national and international level.

The typographica.org elected their favorite typefaces of 2014. In this list we find three Portuguese typefaces: “Breve” from DSType, “Signo” and “Litania” from Rui Abreu.

Production Update 3 – Edition


In recent months we have been working on the long editing phase that is taking more time than originally anticipated due to some unforeseen circumstances.

Editing a documentary is a time consuming process and requires from us the utmost care, consideration and dedication. We are dealing with many hours of interviews and many archival footage collected during the previous phase. We intend to be able to complete this phase as quickly as possible.

Exhibition «Call for Type» Gutenberg-Museum
The contest «Open Call for Type», which was set up by the Gutenberg-Museum in Mainz and the Institut Designlabor Gutenberg / FH Mainz, attracted big international interest with 290 type designs from more than 17 countries. From the 50 typeface designs picked out for the exhibition «Call for Type», which will be presented at the Gutenberg-Museum in Mainz from June 6th, we can find Rui Abreu’s Aria and Azo typefaces.

The International Typography and Design Barcelona meeting, will take place this year from 1 to 5 July.
During the five days of Typeweek you may attend conferences, workshops and exhibitions.
The conference will be conduct by Jonathan Barnbrook, Ken Barber, Yorokobu, Hey Studio, Noe Blanco and Bis.

Typecache 20 favorite typefaces of 2012
The Typecache.com elected the best typefaces of the year 2012. In this list we find two Portuguese typefaces that reflects the best of what has been done around here.
So the two Portuguese typefaces selected are Nyte of DSType designed by Dino dos Santos and Gira of Fountain by Rui Abreu.
