In the coming days 5 and 6 October we will present DocTipos – Portuguese Typeface Design Documentary, in the III Meeting of Typography, who aims to frame the project as well as describe the methodology and process adopted.

Hello everybody!
We’ve been crazy busy the past 9 months, planning, traveling and filming all over the Portugal, meeting some amazing people, and collecting nice footage. We’ve been also colleting the necessary material, like book, magazines, type specimens, newspapers, etc., so we can illustrate the designer’s contribution!
We’re now reviewing these footages in order to go to the hard, but nice, step: the editing!

On 5 and 6 October will take place in the Library Almeida Garrett – Porto the III Meeting of Typography with the overall theme Convergences.

After several months of research, we created a list of Portuguese professional that we think could make a serious contribution to our project in order to produce a documentary on the evolution and state of the art of typeface design in Portugal.
This list includes professionals in the field of design, historical research and academic studies. Such as Dino dos Santos, Hugo d’Alte, Jorge dos Reis, Luís Humberto Marcos, Marco Grieco, Margarida Ortigão Ramos, Mário Feliciano, Miguel Sousa, Ricardo Santos, Rúben Dias, Rui Abreu.

As designers we grow up with the importance of typography and typeface design, and their impact on visual communication.
DocTipos is currently in production and we want to finish in 2013. We’ll be releasing more details about the development of the project and the people featured in the film in this site.
We’ve teamed up with cinematographer Luís Pedro Cardoso from Cimbalino Filmes and we hope you’ll follow along as we complete the film and finish our project about the role of Portuguese Typeface Design.
